85 CASES DISPOSED OFF ON THE SPOT DURING THE NATIONAL LOK ADALAT

As many as 85 cases were disposed off on the spot during the National Lok Adalat organized here by the District Legal Services Authority today at the District Judicial Complex.
Divulging the details, Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jalandhar Mr. Gurmeet Tiwana said that National Lok Adalat was organized in the district under the leadership of Chairman of District Legal Services Authority and District and Session Judge Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Garg. He said that during this National Lok Adalat three bench for pre-litigative cases of Banks and other financial institutions were constituted in Jalandhar besides two in Phillaur and one on Nakodar. Mr. Tiwana said that during the National Lok Adalat 306 cases were listed for hearing before these six benches out of which 85 were solved on the spot.
Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority said that 85 cases were resolved on the spot and compensation worth Rs 1.79 crore was settled during these Lok Adalats. He said that people could approach the District Legal Services Authority or the concerned courts for the settlement of cases through the Lok Adalats. Mr. Tiwana said that the decision of Lok Adalat was the final, which could not be challenged further. The District and Session Judge said that Lok Adalats were instrumental in saving time and money of the people besides promoting harmony amongst the people.
On the occasion Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority said that the people could also get their cases resolved through the Mediation Centre in the District Judicial Complex. He further said that people also could approach the front office of the authority in Court Complex for free legal aid. Mr. Tiwana said that the next National Lok Adalat would be held on April 14, this year.
