As per the directions of Hon’ble Justice TPS Mann, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, a special Lok Adalat had been held today on 10.03.2018. This Lok Adalat had been organized by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, (Mohali) to exclusively deal with the financial matters. This is a special kind of Lok Adalat other than the National Lok Adalat held bi-monthly.

In this regard, Mrs. Archana Puri Ld. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar had held meeting of Judges as well as Bankers and other financial institutions and during the meetings, all the officers and officials were Sensitized about Lok Adalat and were motivated to bring maximum cases for disposal in Lok Adalat.

Total Benches-5

In this Lok Adalat, two benches were constituted at Headquarter presided over by Mr. Sanjay Agnihotri, Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge, Mrs Parul, Civil Judge (Junior Division), SAS Nagar and other than these benches, one bench each at Sub-divisions, Derabassi and Kharar have been constituted. At Derabassi, bench of Smt Balwinder Dhaliwal, Addl. Civil Judge (Senior Division) at Sub-Division Kharar, bench of Ms. Ekta Uppal, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Kharar were constituted for today’s Lok Adalat. Other than these, bench of Permanent Lok Adalat is also constituted, which deals with financial matters as one of the Public Utility Services.

In this Lok Adalat, awards of 2,03,64,697/- had been passed by the courts.

Parties were asked to effect compromise and cases were solved on the basis of compromise. Chairman District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, (Mohali) has urged the public to derive maximum benefits from the Lok Adalats, as they provide, cost free and quicker justice and much stress was laid on the point that the awards passed by the Lok Adalats are non appealable and due to compromise, the relations of parties do not get spoiled and parties go home happily. The general public also appreciated the organizing of the Lok Adalat and derived maximum benefit from the same.
