PUNJAB APPROVES PADDY STRAW BASED RS.71.68 CR BIO-CNG PROJECT
- The Project will utilize more than one lac ton of paddy straw annually and produce 33 ton of Bio-CNG per day
CHANDIGARH, APRIL 13:
To utilize about one lac ton of paddy straw annually and produce 33.23 ton of Bio-CNG per day, the Punjab Government has today approved Rs.71.68 crore Bio-CNG Project of capacity 80000 cum biogas per day (33.23 ton of Bio-CNG per day) which is equivalent to 6.7 MW electrical, based on paddy straw for allotment.
This decision has been taken in the meeting of Project Allotment Committee held under the chairmanship of Mr. Anirudh Tewari, Principal Secretary, New & Renewable Energy Sources (NRES), Punjab. Divulging further details, Mr. Tiwari said that the project, being facilitated by Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), is to be set up by M/s Verbio India Private Limited (100% subsidiary of Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG, Germany) under NRSE Policy-2012 at village Bhutal Kalan, of Lehragaga tehsil, district: Sangrur with 100% Foreign Direct Investment. He said that the project will utilize about one lac ton of paddy straw annually and produce 33.23 ton of Bio-CNG per day, in addition it will produce Bio-manure about 1.44 lac ton annually. Mr. Tiwari said that this project will generate direct employment for about 60 numbers of technical and non-technical persons and indirect employment of about 2000 persons. The raw material requirement for project will create a local supply chain, which will generate employment resources in rural areas and stop the negative effects of burning the paddy straw.
