PUNJAB BANDH: POLICE USE FORCE IN BATHINDA AFTER ALTERCATION

Bathinda, April 2, 2018: Police had to use force to disperse protesters after an altercation erupted in Mehna Chowk bazar here during bandh.

Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra and SSP Naveen Singla along with ADC rushed to the spot to diffuse the situation before it could take an ugly turn.

No injury was reported while the police were trying to break the deadlock.

Over 300 protesters were passing through Mehna Chowk bazar at the time of incident. The altercation took place as the protesters were trying to force closure of the bazar.

The Deputy Commissioner said that about 3000 protesters were taking out a procession in the morning in a peaceful manner and later split into groups. The police were following the protesters to prevent them from creating any breach of law.
