No untoward incident in Ludhiana, Jagraon, people avoid highways
Ludhiana, April 2, 2018: No untoward incident has, so far, been reported from anywhere in Ludhiana and adjoining Jagraon police district.
It looked more of self-imposed restriction by public avoiding state and national highways fearing any inconvenience or physical heckling at the hand of the protesters during the day-long nationwide call for bandh on Monday.
However, almost normal vehicular movement was seen in the inner areas of both places. Taking no chance, the business establishments, however, were closed. The police personnel were seen manning strategic installations like petrol pumps.
In the predominantly rural Jagraon police district, the police took adequate security measures to prevent any untoward happening. Besides keeping a constant vigil at all strategic locations, a close eye was being kept on potential mischief mongers to prevent any provocation.
A senior police officer at Jalandhar told babushahi.com that situation was normal but the police were taking no chance. As a precautionary measure, he advised that people should avoid commuting on the national or the state highways passing through sensitive areas.
In Amritsar area too, a senior civil administration officer said that there was no let up in security. Nobody would be allowed to take law into hands though the protesters may continue their protest in a peaceful manner.
