‘I am firm on my stand’, Sidhu says after ruckus in Punjab Vidhan Sabhav

Chandigarh, February 18,2019: Hours after ruckus was recreated when SAD-BJP leaders accused cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu of treason over his comments over Pulwama attack , the latter on Monday evening said that he was firm on his earlier stand, terrorism should not be tolerated.

Sidhu had invited controversy over his statement, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?” after Pulwama attack. However he added while talking to the media on Monday,” Why should a soldier die? Why can’t there be a permanent solution?

Earlier this day, Sidhu had entered into a verbal spat with former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia after SAD-BJP leaders demanded Sidhu’s ouster from Congress cabinet.

Heated exchange later started between both the leaders after which the speaker asked the marshals to escort MLAs of SAD-BJP out of the house.

These chaotic scenes were witnessed while Finance minister Manpreet Badal was reading out the budget estimates of 2019-2020 in the house.

Earlier, before the session started, the Akali Dal-BJP MLAs staged protest outside the assembly and burnt pictures of Sidhu hugging the Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa, during his visit to Pakistan last year.
