Development follows Punjab government announcement to set up Cultural Commission
PTC Channel not to telecast vulgar audio-video content
Chandigarh, April 3, 2018: Punjabi TV Channel PTC will not air vulgar songs and music glorifying drugs and gun culture.
This was announced by the Channel’s MD Rabindra Narayan.
The decision was taken realizing the Channel’s social responsibility wherein no audio-video content amounting to degradation of the status of women would be aired and could leave an adverse impact on the society, added Narayan.
It remains to be seen how sincerely this Channel implements its commitment because of its likely financial impact of such a move.
The PTC Channel is the first big Punjabi electronic media network that has taken this initiative. PTC News, PTC Punjabi and Chak De are the three news and entertainment Channels of this network.
Notably, the development follows the recent announcement by the Punjab government to set up Cultural Commission to discourage the increasingly disturbing trend of cultural contamination through cheap entertainment music.
